We are frequently asked by customers why they can see so many different versions of the 7000i system, when they do an online search. Here is a brief history of the product, which we hope will help you to understand its evolution over the last few years.
The original 7000i system was launched in 2013, with five mini
satellite speakers and a single driver slimline sub. It was incredibly
popular with customers, because it produced an amazingly big, detailed
sound, bearing in mind that the satellites were only the size of a large
paperback book. As a result, it won the highly coveted What Hi-Fi Award
two years on the trot, as well as receiving the prestigious AV Forums
Best Buy. The 7000i system dominated its sector of the market until
about a year ago when disaster struck and the factory that manufactured
the subwoofer suffered a major fire, which shut down production.
Demand for the system was still incredibly high so Q Acoustics had to respond instantly and did so by simply putting the sub from its award winning 3000 5.1 speaker system with the satellites, thus creating the 7000i PLUS system. The 7000i PLUS sub utilised twin 6.5 inch drivers in a larger cabinet than the original sub.
The 7000i PLUS was only ever
intended to be a stopgap, as can be seen from the fact the gloss finish
on the sub isnt a perfect cosmetic match for the satin finish on the
satellites. Although it has proved to be very popular, the sub is larger
than would be ideal, and the systems price is higher than the original
slimline system. the expectation has always been that the stop gap
sub would eventually be replaced by something more similar to the sub
found in the original system.
And that's exactly what has happened, because Q Acoustics have just announced the 7000i PLUS will be replaced by the 7000i Slim, which has identical satellites but a more compact, better looking, single driver subwoofer. The new subwoofer boasts the same size 8 inch driver as that found in the original 7000i system, but is arguably even more attractive and easier to house, because it is only 6 inches deep, making it the slimmest stand alone subwoofer Q Acoustics have ever produced.
Other than the new sub, it's business as usual, because the 7000i PLUS has exactly the same satellites as the old 7000i. Their sleek metal cabinets house the latest hi-tech Q Acoustics
drivers, giving the system class-leading detail and transparency, plus
outstanding 3D 'steering'. The satellites measure about the same size as a
child's pencil case and are beautifully curved and available in two gorgeous finishes. They
have a clever foot design, which doubles as an excellent wall bracket, or
the satellites can be mounted on stylish optional stands. At £999 (or significantly less, in our packages below) the
7000i Slim system is an absolute bargain - in other words if you liked the old 7000i system, you will absolutely love the new 7000i Slim!
